Discover the architectural gem of South Moravia – Chateau Lednice.
Originally a moated Gothic stronghold, Lednice chateau was rebuilt as a Renaissance château in 16th century and then modified to a Baroque style in the 17th century by Jan Fischer von Erlach. The only section surviving from that era is the riding hall wing built between 1666 – 1699.
After several smaller modifications an extensive reconstruction of the chateau was undertaken between 1846 and 1858 in the Neo-Gothic style by Lichtenstein architect Jiri Wingelmuller.
The Lednice château, which is one of the most visited sites in the Czech Republic, is the most significant expression of English Neo-Gothic style in the country.
